Therapeutic Counsellor and Play Therapist
I have been working with children since my last year at University (1998), when I was employed as an Educational Psychologist in a Primary school and an orphanage for disadvantaged children.
On relocation to England in 2000, I continued my journey working with children in various roles and environments, from home and education settings to residential social work and play work. In 2003, I took on a project developing a play and child care provision as a Play Leader and Manager at Short Heath Junior School, which is still running successfully.
Continuing my work within Short Heath Federation, in 2013 I took on working as a Family Support Advisor, providing support, advice and tailored interventions to children and their families in groups and on a 1:1 basis, including Leading Early Help and supporting CIN and CP caseloads.
Since graduating in Therapeutic Counselling Level 5 in 2017, I have been providing counselling and therapeutic interventions for children and adults, working alongside school staff in an effort to empower and support children, as well as developing a range of therapeutic services and interventions.
Facing the daily challenges of working with children has inspired me to continue my quest in discovering new and more ways to engage and facilitate children, and leading me to completion of a Post Graduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play.
