Education
Sunday 2006

Education Sunday has been celebrated since 1878.  It is the day when churches join to offer to God the work of education, in schools, colleges, universities and in the church.  It is a time to celebrate the achievements of education, to recognise the challenges, and support and pray for all who are involved in education.

The theme this year is ‘Prizes That Last’, and as usual children, staff and parents from Rosedale joined in with Furzebank Worship Centre’s Education Sunday Service, held in the school hall.

In school we have been thinking about the different types of prizes that we can give and receive.  Some children have gained prizes for activities which they take part in out of school.  We have prizes to celebrate our achievements at school too.

‘We know that God wants us to share our talents with others, so that they can achieve things too’

‘Our families and teachers share their talents to help teach us new skills’

‘You can’t always see prizes, these are prizes that last.’

Sometimes, the prize that lasts is not a trophy or a certificate, but the satisfaction of achievement, and helping others to achieve.

The children sang ‘The Rainbow Song’, using the Makaton signing that they have learned in school.
